Atsumi was born in Japan with a background of Physical Education in international Budo university. Gotsports teacher license in Japan, specialist of Judo and karate. He finished English and Chinese language study in London and Beijing in 1989 and 1996.

His love toward the ocean made him a PADI instructor in 1997.Over the passed 25 years, he has taught over 2000 diver students &200 instructor students in Japan, China and Thailand. This made him a Silver level PADI Course Director. He's also a Course Director of International Association for Handicapped Divers.

Through all the years' experience on the sea, he started sailing in early 2000. He completed ASA carrack Instructor 201, 203, 205 in 2012 and 204, 210, 214, 218 in 2017. IYT instructor in 2014.

He participated China Cup International Regatta, Aloha Cup Round Hainan Regatta Quasi-winning, Phuket King's Cup Regatta, and The Qingdao Club Cup Regatta from 2012-2019.

His life goal is to open an Academy for people to study water sports. Andaman Marine Academy was founded in 2017 which made one step closer to his dream.
